The Sunlandic Twins is the seventh album by indie pop band of Montreal. The album continues further into the more electronic territory first explored on 2004's Satanic Panic in the Attic. It was recorded almost entirely by Kevin Barnes, the band's singer and songwriter, in Athens, GA and Oslo, Norway throughout 2004. Initial pressings of the album contained a bonus EP featuring four new tracks.

Missing Satanic Panic's multidimensionality, the album feels like the hollowed-out shell of something great. Barnes can sleepwalk through a book of staff paper and come away with a set of leakproof pop songs- or, in this case, a "foray into 21st century . electro cinematic avant-disco- and that effortlessness lends Of Montreal's music a sort of indifference  . Of Montreal have accomplished the rare feat of honing an unusually nuanced signature sound. But with such a skilled songwriter at the helm, they should be making great records, checking the conceptual dalliances at the door.

Listen free to of Montreal – The Sunlandic Twins (Requiem for . 2, I Was Never Young and more). Released in 2005, The Sunlandic Twins is the seventh album, considered to continue the electronic elements of their music that was featured in 2004's Satanic Panic in the Attic. Initial pressings of the CD included a bonus five track EP. Wraith Pinned to the Mist (And Other Games) was used-with altered lyrics-for an Outback Steakhouse commercial, as well as for the movie Cloverfield. Everyday Feels Like Sunday was used in a NASDAQ commercial. The album artwork, as with.

The Sunlandic Twins" is a bit different from previous Of Montreal albums, though. This time around, Kevin Barnes played most of the instruments, sang in his Beatlesy voice, wrote the songs, and produced the album too. The only thing he didn't do seems to be the quirky cover art. In other words, Of Montreal basically IS Barnes. There's also a four-song EP accompanying the album proper. There's nothing too different about this EP, with its catchy pop melodies and weird lyrics; it merely sounds like an extension of "Sunlandic Twins. Maybe all these songs wouldn't fit on one disc. The Sunlandic Twins" continues the trend of trippy, sunny psych-pop for listeners who don't mind a spoonful of sugar (or two, or three) with their music. 49 people found this helpful.

When I say pop I don't mean bands like Good Charlotte or Simple Plan. I'll explain later but just so you know Of Montreal is not like the two bands I mentioned above. This is Of Montreal's seventh album, and although it wasn't anything mindblowing it is still a solid album. This is an excellent pop album. This album is just pure fun, and it never gets old. If you are looking for some fun, quirky pop music than look no further The Sunlandic Twins is the perfect album for you. The instruments play fairly simple roles, the guitar obviously being the main key. Throughout catchy riffs, chords, and brief solos the guitar is what really makes the music come to life. The guitar lines are just so catchy, they will be stuck in your head for days.
