The world music magazine's first issue in Farsi, intended for publication in Iran as an issue of that country's monthly title Culture and Music. Abi harding of the zutons. I've just finished John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men, which I was really taken with. I'm not much of a reader but I got completely absorbed in the story. The way Steinbeck describes the scenery and everything really captured my imagination.

If you love reading about music in the 1960's or just music in general this is a great book albeit very short. Published by Thriftbooks. White Bicycles, by Joe Boyd, is a "pick up and don't put down all weekend" type book. Boyd has great storytelling style, here telling us about his career and where it took him with various recording artists, his escapades and participation in London in the "60's", and his professional development as a producer. I got the book primarily because I am a Nick Drake fan.

When considering the whole sweep of 20th century music, the 1960s loom especially large. Some of the importance placed on the music of the decade can be traced to demographics (the massive baby boomer generation born after World War II reached prime music-listening age) and technology (the consumer electronics industry was creating new listening spaces in automobiles and on television, and advancements in sound reinforcement made large concerts possible). Still, there’s no getting around the fact that the music of the ’60s made a huge impact at the time and never really went away.

Boyd left Hannibal/Ryko in 2001 and his autobiography, White Bicycles - Making Music in the 1960s, was published in 2006 by Serpent's Tail in the UK.
