Everybody Wanna Live On benefited from the subtle and innovative production values of Isaac Hayes; the title track is a powerful dance number that boasts not quite didactic lyrics and Jones’ patented robust vocals.

Title: Everybody Wanna Live On. Label: Stax. Ah, that voice! That voice! Lee Hatim (previously Jones before his conversion to the Muslim faith), my friends. This album was released in 1976, their debut album for Isaac Hayes’ own Hot Buttered Soul label and it sounds absolutely lovely. Why? Partly the group itself and partly because of Isaac Hayes standing in as producer and seconded as keyboard player on this LP.

Everybody Wanna Live On. (CD - Stax 143). The Masqueraders had been around since the early '60s, releasing singles for labels such as Bell, Wand, and Chips Moman's Memphis-based AGP. In the '70s, the group released two singles for Hi Records, then this 1975 album debut.

The Masqueraders also did a lot of background work for other La Beat artists (Lester Tipton, Al Williams et. - most notably for James Shorter, who in '66 recorded for La Beat the original version of Modern Day Woman, which the group covered for their '77 Love Anonymous album. Robert: We had a hit from the Everybody Wanna Live On album, The Traveling Man, and it was number one in Philadelphia.
