However, this release marked several firsts for the Gap Band - it was their first album for Mercury, their first collaboration with producer Lonnie Simmons, and the first Gap Band album that was commercially successful. The funk gems "Shake" and "Open Up Your Mind (Wide)" became the Wilson Brothers' first hit singles, earning them a sizable following. And for the first time, the Wilson Brothers provided an album that was generally excellent instead of merely competent. This LP is, without question, stronger and more consistent than the Gap Band's previous albums.

The Gap Band was an American R&B and funk band that rose to fame during the 1970s and 1980s. The band consisted of three brothers Charlie, Ronnie, and Robert Wilson; and it was named after streets (Greenwood, Archer, and Pine) in the historic Greenwood neighborhood in the brothers' hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma. The group shortened its name to The Gap Band in 1973. After 43 years together, they retired in 2010.

Walk by the River The Gap (between the pushchair and the future) is a line from Wating Bloody Waiting. A fan in Belgium said recently that she would like this track played at her wedding. This is effectively Coil's second album. We wrote and recorded these songs through late 2010 and early 2011 - and released the album to coincide with a gig in Berlin in June 2011. We recorded most of the album in Finbar's kitchen. We still record most of our music there. Liam Sharp produced the Coil logo for the album and Rick Tailby did the back cover and assembly
