Frankie and Johnny is a 1966 American musical film starring Elvis Presley as a riverboat gambler. The role of "Frankie" was played by Donna Douglas from The Beverly Hillbillies TV series. The film reached on the Variety weekly national box office list for 1966. The director was Frederick De Cordova, who was the director and producer of The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson beginning in 1970.

Love at first sight bites Johnny on seeing Frankie. He makes direct attempts to get her heart. But deep a wound in Frankie's heart would not let her give her heart to Johnny. Johnny's divorced wife and kids have moved to a new world of a different person. After their brief encounter in SCARFACE, Al Pacino and Michelle Pfeiffer were reunited for FRANKIE AND JOHNNY, a charming romantic comedy about an ex-con hired to work at a restaurant where he falls in love with one of the waitresses there. Pacino has rarely been more sexy and appealing on screen and no matter how much they tried to make her look like a Plain Jane, Michelle Pfeiffer is just beautiful and also gives a very affecting performance as the repressed Frankie, afraid to release the love she has to give due to a troubled romantic past.

I really love the movie 'Frankie & Johnny', not only for the great screenplay and terrific acting, but also for the music which underscores the film. This is a superb soundtrack. Standouts for me are - 'Until You Let Go', 'It Must Be Love' (Rickie Lee Jones) and the beautiful instrumentals, 'Together', 'Flower Market' and, of course, the wonderful 'Clair De Lune' arranged and conducted by Marvin Hamlisch.
