It's a shame that these guys never made more, as this is a pretty epic slab of super heavy pitch black sludge, and while it's a pretty hard record to listen too, it's definitely something that most sludge fans will get into. It's too bad, really, as Migration is a very innovative and satisfying album. The guitars are some of the heaviest and unrelenting you'll ever hear. The vocals are intense, raspy, and unintelligible screams that would make one wonder whether the vocalist still has the ability to speak. And the drums are skillfully done, perfectly complimenting everything else. The atmosphere and ambiance in the album could draw in any Isis fanatic. From the sounds of water dripping to the rusty squeals of a creaky ship, this album has an ongoing nautical feel to it.

As ferocious as the sea, and as calming as a river, you never know quite what to expect. Other than it's going to be heavy. What Buried At Sea does differently, I think, is that they keep the songs flowing in an almost random way. The guitars will stop crunching and take a back seat, allowing for the drums to weave the next beat. Each instrument is top notch here, and not a single rhythm, beat, or melody on the entire album, can be scrutinized. It’s, more or less, perfect.
