Pwr Bttm, stylized PWR BTTM (pronounced Power Bottom) are an American queer punk duo formed in 2013 at Bard College by Liv Bruce and Ben Hopkins. The duo's debut album, Ugly Cherries, was released in 2015. Their second studio album, Pageant, was released in 2017 to critical acclaim. Pageant's release was preceded by sexual abuse allegations against Ben Hopkins, which led to the duo being dropped by both Polyvinyl and Big Scary Monsters. PWR BTTM has denied the allegations.

Pageant was set to be PWR BTTM’s second album, and it was originally planned for to be released on May 12, 2017. It’s release was preceded by four singles: Projection, New Hampshire, Big Beautiful Day, and Answer My Text ; only the latter two appeared on the final tracklist of the album. On May 10th, 2017, allegations were raised against band member Ben Hopkins, accusing them of sexual assault. The backlash against the band was swift and powerful.

PWR BTTM’s second album, Pageant, out Friday, May 12, arrives after a debut record, Ugly Cherries, that grew in tiny Brooklyn clubs like Silent Barn and Shea Stadium and broke into the mainstream, elbowing its way onto 2015 best-of lists of national critics. The band name, PWR BTTM - power bottom - comes from gay slang, meaning a reins-taking, enthusiastic sexual partner on the receiving end of the experience.

PWR BTTM is the perfect example of what growth looks like for punk. The queer punk duo of Ben Hopkins and Liv Bruce have, with their second album, Pageant, raised the bar for what it looks like to be original and significant in the contemporary world of the genre, providing anthem after anthem for bright, curious, vibrant young people with hearts so queer and alive and so sad from the start, as the shimmering, resonant album. Arriving in 2017, Pageant escapes the limitations of being aligned with a niche area of music, while retaining its spirit. While in true punk tradition none of the tracks tip the three-minute mark, the music avoids subgenre sidelining with incisive pop hooks and addictive riffs. Lead single "Answer My Text" is classic punk-pop, complete with a melodic yet shouty chorus.
