Bob Mould has announced the release of a new album, Sunshine Rock, on February 8, 2019, via Merge Records. Mould discussed the inspiration for Sunshine Rock, which he wrote while living in Berlin over the past three years. Almost four years ago, I made plans for an extended break," he explained. I started spending time in Berlin in 2015, found an apartment in 2016, and became a resident in 2017.

On February 8th, Bob Mould is set to return with a new solo album called Sunshine Rock. Mould drew much of his inspiration from his new surroundings, an apartment in Berlin which he began to call home. Almost four years ago, I made plans for an extended break, Mould explained in a press statement

2019's Sunshine Rock is Mould's fourth album with Narducy and Wurster, and on one hand it looks back to past glories, blending the melodic sensibilities and pop shadings of Sugar with the sheer velocity and unrelenting guitars of Hüsker Dü. But with these songs, he is clearly writing in the here and now, often dealing with the challenges of relationships as his 60th birthday becomes faintly visible in the rearview mirror  .

Bob Mould, the legendary frontman of Hüsker Dü and Sugar, is back with a new album and single - both called Sunshine Rock - that he says find him looking on the brighter side of things after a few years living abroad. Or, more simply, This is not Black Sheets of Rain. The new 37-minute album, Mould’s 13th solo effort and first since 2016’s Patch the Sky, will be released on Feb. 8 by Merge Records. Bob Moud will be releasing a new album titled Sunshine Rock on February 8th. The album was recorded after Mould spent three years living in Berlin and will feature string arrangements from an 18-piece orchestra in Prague.
