Carlos Giffoni is a Venezuelan artist who resides in the New York City area, currently working on an MFA degree in Design and Technology at Parsons School of Design. Carlos has been applying various types of synthesis, extreme modular manipulation, rewired instruments, and live re-sampling to the composition of electronic music pieces, as well as improvising live with local and international experimental musicians.

Carlos Giffoni is to all intents and purposes the Godfather of the current New York experimental/noise scene, a character with professional ties to many of the main players that make up the thriving underground of the evergreen Big Apple. A good chunk of Giffoni’s rep comes from his curatorship of No Fun Fest, a particularly brave, noise-themed festival that’s grown out of its grody beginnings squeezing into venues like The Hook in Red Hook to fill the rarefied halls and balconies of Williamsburg Hall Of Music last year (having Sonic Youth as headliners possibly helped a bit).

Both the film and the LP are about a young woman with mysterious psychokinetic powers, lost in the deserts and beaches of California trying to find answers to her mysterious past. The music score follows Vain in a fantastic journey that changes her world forever. Despite having release over 50 solo recordings and collaborations released, Vain is only Carlos’ 4th official full length LP release, following Welcome Home (Important Records), Arrogance (No Fun Productions), and Adult Life (No Fun Productions.

VAIN is the soundtrack to a film in Carlos’ head of the same name. He continued to play music sporadically with collaborators, and finally started recording this new album on his home studio in Malibu during Summer of 2017 inspired by heartbreak and deceit, where all great art comes from. The 9 tracks on this record were created with a variety of analog equipment, with no computer effects or instrument overdubs.
