The concept of From the Gallery of Sleep, according to Night Verses, revolves around the inexplicably limitless parameters we operate through in our dreams. Importantly, the focus turns out to be on parameters, rather than on limitlessness, and it is within the framework of modesty and limitations that Night Verses paint an achingly beautiful dreamscape. There are no more vocals, only snippets of spoken-word samples that confirm the theme of the work; the instrumentation is kept to a minimal 3-piece set-up, with all electronic effects being hand-triggered . And much to my surprise, I’m finding that I think of From the Gallery of Sleep as sweetly endearing. This would seem to jar with my first impression of the album: mysterious, sprawling, often tense. But if anything, the word to use is curious.
CD housed in a 4-panel Digipak. The booklet insert lists tracks 6 and 7 as "No Moon".
Night Verses are an American post-rock band from Fullerton, California. The group consists of Guitarist Nick DePirro, Bassist Reilly Herrera and Drummer/Digital Percussionist Aric Improta. The band has 4 releases to date and is currently signed to Graphic Nature/Equal Vision Records (US). Night Verses was formed in Los Angeles, California in 2012. Early that year, Douglas Robinson (former lead vocalist of The Sleeping) was attending a local charity show that was being put on by a close friend
Album: From The Gallery Of Sleep. Release date: June 2018. But Night Verses ain't having none of that. From The Gallery Of Sleep proves that there is no need for a vocalist in the band. If any of you remember 2016's Into The Vanishing Light, you probably remember Night Verses as that progressive metalcore band that had a knack for cool instrumentals but didn't really stray too far from what you'd expect from a progressive metalcore band. Now with vocalist Douglas Robinson no longer in the band, Night Verses had to do more than just make their usual music sans the vocals.
Night Verses basically do the same as both, but with sick riffs. On their fourth album From the Gallery of Sleep, the . -based alternative metal power trio examines the junction between fantasy and reality. Taking the role of a prog Morpheus, they lead us through the land of imagination. Opening track Copper Wasp starts the album at full blast. A hi-hat and an audio sample give way to intricate guitar and bass work.
