Discipline is the eighth studio album by English progressive rock band King Crimson, released on 22 September 1981 by . Records in the United Kingdom and by Warner Bros. Records in the United States. This album was King Crimson's first album following a seven-year hiatus. Only founder Robert Fripp and later addition Bill Bruford remained from previous incarnations.
This album was King Crimson's first album following a seven-year hiatus. The rest of the band was Adrian Belew (guitar, lead vocals) and Tony Levin (bass guitar, Chapman Stick, backing vocals). The album resulted in a more updated 1980s new wave proto-techno sound mixed with the previous dark and heavy sounds of the 1970s.

Discipline is a music studio album recording by KING CRIMSON (Eclectic Prog/Progressive Rock) released in 1981 on cd, lp, vinyl and/or cassette.
If King Crimson fans were shocked, stunned and grief-stricken when the seminal art-rock group was disbanded by its only original founding member, guitarist Robert Fripp, in September 1974-seemingly at the height of its power and prowess-then it's certain that many of them didn't exactly know what to make of Exposure (DGM Live) in 1979. If anything, Discipline was the album that, more than any that came before it, made clear that King Crimson wasn't a certain sound or style; it was an approach, a methodology, a philosophy. Fripp's playing had undergone its own paradigm shift in years between 1975 and 1981.

For a short period of time, exclusively on the WHD Entertainment web site and at Disk Union (Tokyo), the 2011 HQCD+DVD Japanese edition of 'Discipline' was bundled with the following two official promotional items:- a gloss finish box (measuring approximately H=145mm x W=145mm x T=27mm) in which to store the set.
- a wrap around Obi strip.
The 2011 Japanese HQCD+DVD set consists of:
- 1x HQCD, compatible with any CD player;
- 1x DVD featuring high resolution audio files;
- 2x Mini-LP replica covers;
- 1x wrap around OBI strip replica;
- a 16-page booklet containing liner notes in English (by Robert Fripp and King Crimson biographer Sid Smith), along with rare photos and archive material;
- an additional black & white fold out leaflet with track listing and liner notes in Japanese;
- a black & white information sheet about the HQCD format;
- an OBI strip covering the back entirely;
- a resealable protection sleeve holding all items together.
There are no track durations given on the release.
