The Compact King Crimson is a compilation of songs by the British progressive rock band King Crimson, selected by Robert Fripp from the two different eras of the band. The cover art features the Fergus Hall painting Il Divino. Paintings by Hall emblazoned the previous King Crimson compilation, A Young Person's Guide to King Crimson. A strange attempt at a single-disc overview of the group, offering a compilation of the three Adrian Belew-fronted Crimson albums Discipline, Beat, and Three of a Perfect Pair. The classic tracks "21st Century Schizoid Man" and "In the Court of the Crimson King" are tacked on because, hell, CDs were the new thing at the time and could fragrantly pass over the 45 minute mark of vinyl. It would take the release of 1993's The Concise King Crimson for Caroline records (not EG) to finally offer a more balanced look at this ever-changing group.

The Compact King Crimson is a music boxset/compilation recording by KING CRIMSON (Eclectic Prog/Progressive Rock) released in 1986 on cd, lp, vinyl and/or cassette. In the absence at the time of "In the Court of the Crimson king", which had yet to be released on CD, I bought this album because it contains no less than four of the five tracks on that album. The only one missing is "Moonchild", which to me was no great loss.

Red is the seventh studio album by English progressive rock group King Crimson, released in 1974 by Island Records in the United Kingdom and by Atlantic Records in the United States. It was their last studio recording of the 1970s and the last before lead member Robert Fripp temporarily disbanded the group. Though their lowest-charting album at the time, spending only one week in the UK charts, Red has received critical acclaim.

In addition to The Compact King Crimson, there exists another single-CD collection, The Concise King Crimson, which may be preferable to some.
