(1959 or 1960), which propelled Brother Dave into the national eye, along with the first of several appearances on national television talk/variety shows such as The Tonight Show. Next to Homer And Jethro, the most successful Southern-derived comedian was undoubtedly Brother Dave Gardner.

This two-fer CD contains "Brother" Dave Gardner's debut (Rejoice, Dear Hearts!) and follow-up (Kick Thy Own Self) long-players for RCA Records. Gardner's impact as a social and political humorist has been largely obscured by time as well as the reality that a majority of his seminal recordings remained out of print for over 30 years.

Brother Dave Gardner was born on June 11, 1926 in Jackson, Tennessee, USA. He was an actor, known for Brother Dave Gardner: Live and in Concert (1984), Big Bob Johnson and His Fantastic Speed Circus (1978) and Kiss My Grits (1983).
