Two Lane Highway is the third album by American country rock band Pure Prairie League, released in 1975 (see 1975 in music). The line-up of the band was drastically changed from their previous album. It was the first album without founding member Craig Fuller, who was the primary songwriter, and vocalist, on their two previous LP's. In addition to the usual 2-channel stereo version the album was also released by RCA Records in a 4-channel quadraphonic sound version in 1975.

The country-rock band’s 1975 album sees a different lineup than on their first two efforts, but the songs are as good and maybe better. You can intrinsically feel the open road here, which helps explain an overall airy sense of hopefulness. There’s even a heartfelt cover of Gene Clark’s great trainspotter Kansas City Southern. Elsewhere, the title song and Harvest recall The Eagles and Poco, while I’ll Change Your Flat Tire, Merle honors Merle Haggard and the country teardrop Just Can’t Believe It features a duet with Emmylou Harris

Pure Prairie League is an American country rock band whose origins go back to 1965 and Waverly, Ohio. The band has had a long run, active from the 1970s through the late 1980s and was revived in the late 1990s for a time, then again in 2004. This complilation features 2 albums on 1 SACD. And, while the overall album isn't up to its predecessors, there are still some nice moments including the title track, "Runner," and a humorous tribute to country music legend Merle Haggard. 1976: PPL continues in the same vein as the last LP with only a couple of George Powell tunes bearing any resemblance to the sound of the first two records. Not a bad record, but it's becoming harder to find any traces of what made this band so special. Tracklist: 01. Two Lane Highway 02. Kentucky Moonshine 03. Runner 04.

Two Lane Highway Lyrics. Soon it will be time to go I don't want to leave, I guess you know Maybe something new will come up And I can come home for just a few more days. Get off this two lane highway Is going my way, moving fast Two lane highway Is taking me home, home at last. You don't want me sleeping in You turn around, I'm back again I guess this time I'm really gone But it don't seem right, I've been up all night. On this two lane highway Is going my way, moving fast Two lane highway Is taking me home, home at last. Two lane highway Is going my way, moving.
