Mozambique" is a song written by Bob Dylan and Jacques Levy that was originally released on Dylan's 1976 album Desire. It was also released as a single and reached on the Billboard Hot 100. At the time of the song's release, the titular country of Mozambique had just emerged from a ten-year insurgency war against Portugal which led to Mozambique's independence. Mozambique had gained independence on June 25, 1975, only about a month before the song was recorded.

Written by: Bob Dylan and Jacques Levy. Lying next to her by the ocean Reaching out and touching her hand Whispering your secret emotion Magic in a magical land

Dylan had visited France for a good while before making Desire. According to a 2016 piece in The Daily Beast, Mozambique was chosen as the location for the song simply because Dylan and Levy wanted to see how many rhymes they could come up with ending in "–ique. Mozambique" was recorded on July 30, 1975 at Columbia Recording Studios in New York City. Seven attempts were made at the song on July 29, but the final version that appears on Desire is the fourth and final take from the 30th. The song features harmony vocals by Emmylou Harris and violin by Scarlet Rivera; Dylan.

Desire is the 17th studio album by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, released on January 5, 1976 by Columbia Records. It is one of Dylan's most collaborative efforts, featuring the same caravan of musicians as the acclaimed Rolling Thunder Revue tours the previous year (later documented on The Bootleg Series Vol. 5). Many of the songs also featured backing vocals by Emmylou Harris and Ronee Blakley

The Bob Dylan Complete Album Collection Vol. One also brings together for the first time, on two "Side Tracks" discs, a wealth of previously released non-album singles, tracks from Biograph and other compilations, songs from films and more. The collection contains 35 studio titles (including the first-ever North American release of 1973's Dylan album on CD), 6 live albums, the 2-CD "Side Tracks," and a hardcover book featuring extensive new album-by-album liner notes penned by Clinton Heylin and a new introduction written by Bill Flanagan. Quite possibly the most enigmatic popular musician of the last 50 years, "The Complete Album Collection Volume One" traces Bob Dylan's often brilliant, often polarizing, occasionally terrible career at every turn, from his very first album in 1962 to his most recent release, 2012's excellent "Tempest.
