There are 14 songs on Joy to the World, says Thomas Lauderdale, including well-known traditional holiday songs like Irving Berlin’s White Christmas sung by China Forbes in English and by the incredible Saori Yuki, the Barbra Streisand of Japan, in Japanese. With the Pacific Youth Choir and the handbell choir Bells of the Cascades, we recorded Shchedryk, known in English-speaking countries as Carol of the Bells, with the original Ukrainian text which tells of a lark flying into the house.

Joy to the World is the fifth studio album from the band Pink Martini. It was released on November 16, 2010 under the band's own label, Heinz Records. The album was recorded and mixed at Kung Fu Bakery in Portland, Oregon from May 2008 to May-August 2010. Their rendition of "We Three Kings" was released as a Starbucks free download.

Pink Martini's "Joy To The World" is easily the best Christmas album I've ever bought. All the tracks are great listening, but the absolute best tracks are those that use China Forbes' wonderful voice to best effect. In my opinion those tracks are Elohai, N' Tzor, and La Vergine Degli Angeli, both of which give the listener a hint of the depth of Ms. Forbes' vocal talents; Do You Hear What I Hear?, which is both hopeful and sad; and Santa Baby (which I've always disliked for its adult encroachment on a children's tradition). Pink Martini begins Joy to the World with an intimate rendition of White Christmas that’s so faithful to the original that it features the sunny California prelude that was included when it debuted in the film Holiday Inn, then they follow it with a lush orchestral rendition - sung in Japanese.
