Ok, Underøath's previous album, They're Only Chasing Safety, was a decent album, but it only has 3 memorable songs in my opinion. This album on the other hand is a masterpiece! I could listen to this album for a lifetime and still probably never soak in all of its meaning and complexity! The vocals from both Spencer and Aaron are much improved and much more varied and emotional! James and Tim are playing guitar parts that really stand out! Chris' keys are good and Grant's bass is solid. This album is probably one of the best things I've heard from the year 2006 . I would definitely chose this album over the other. Define the great line is a fantastic album that I really enjoy listening to. It seems more "metaly" than TAOCS, which I definitely like better.
They're Only Chasing Safety. by Underoath - 10 Tracks - 35:51. Release date 06/15/2004. 1. Young And Aspiring.
Right next to "They're Only Chasing Safety" Underoath has changed so much from their first two cds, "Act Of Depression" and "Cries Of The Past" which are both still unbelivably great, but I love their new sound more. Lyrics - 10 Aaron, (clear vocals/drummer)and Spencer (lead, throat vocals) is gifted in what they do. They write beautiful, moving lyrics that you would never know how beautiful they are in the awesome screaming Specer does. Overall Impression - 10 "Define The Great Line" compares most to their previous album "They're Only Chasing Safety" If you were to listen to "Cries Of The Past" or "Act Of Depression" you'll see that they're talents has expanded and broadend. Even though they now have different members) I hope that their albums continue to grow more popular, because everyone I know who's never heard of Underoath, then listened to them, loved them shortly after.
