Salome (French: Salomé, pronounced ) is a tragedy by Oscar Wilde. The original 1891 version of the play was in French. Three years later an English translation was published. The play tells in one act the Biblical story of Salome, stepdaughter of the tetrarch Herod Antipas, who, to her stepfather's dismay but to the delight of her mother Herodias, requests the head of Jokanaan (John the Baptist) on a silver platter as a reward for dancing the dance of the seven veils.

I had to choose from a couple of silent films and I liked Salomé - a film adaption of the Oscar Wilde play of the same name (1923), directed by Charles Bryant.

Salome was an American sludge metal band from Virginia. Katherine Katz left the band in March of 2011 and they subsequently disbanded.

Vocalist Kat Katz still sings in grindcore band Agoraphobic Nosebleed. Guitarist Rob Moore has been involved in projects including Auroboros, Thrain, Griefloss and most recently powerviolence group Brainpan.
