Tom Robinson Band (TRB) are a British rock band, established in 1976 by singer, songwriter and bassist Tom Robinson. Their third single, "Up Against the Wall", is seen by some as a classic punk rock single; while their début album, Power in the Darkness (1978), is regarded as a definitive late Seventies punk album. Tom Robinson began gigging in London in 1976. By the end of the year, he had decided to put together a permanent band. Robinson's old friend, guitarist Danny Kustow, was the first in the permanent lineup

I love this band and a very large majority of their music. I must say though, that the song 'Waiting for my Man' sucks. Sucked when Bowie did it, sucks when TRB did it, it's just a dreadful song. You could argue that the signs were all there. I was a child in that period and the album captures well the political climate of the time. What is this song about? Is it about "winter of discontent" in Britain in 1978/79 before the fall of Labour government in 1979 and coming of Margaret Thatcher to office in May, 1979? 8 years назад.

Power in the Darkness is the debut studio album by English punk band Tom Robinson Band, released in early 1978. The UK LP had ten tracks. It included inside the album cover a stencil similar to the cover art, but with the album title replaced by "Tom Robinson Band"; it held the warning, "This stencil is not meant for spraying on public property!!!". The US release was packaged with a seven-track bonus LP. The 1993 CD re-release included all 17 tracks. Two more tracks were included on a 2004 re-release.
