The Beatles or "The White album" as it became better known was released on 22nd November, 1968 on the fifth anniversary of their second album, With The Beatles. A total of 34 new tracks were released in 1968 and 30 were contained on this one double-LP.

An LP compilation of all seven, titled From Then to You in the UK and The Beatles' Christmas Album in the US, was sent out in 1970.

In their native United Kingdom, between 1962 and 1970, the Beatles released 12 studio albums, 13 extended plays (EPs) and 22 singles. The Beatles' discography was originally released on the vinyl format, with full-length long plays (LPs), shorter EPs and singles.

Certainly the best Beatles album- it shows every side of them. Their rocking side (the opening track, Getting Better, the reprise), their soft, melodic, beautiful side (She's Leaving Home), their experimental side (Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, Fixing A Hole, Being For The Benefit of Mr. Kite!, Within You Without You, and A Day In The Life of course. and their pop side. This is the last album of the Beatles recorded on two tracks. It has a beautiful warm sound and they were very energetic on this album. If the singles I want to Hold Your Hand and She Loves You (+ their B-sides) replace the few weaker songs, this album would be the ultimate album of their early years.

Film studio United Artists did, and they centered this album on eight songs from the . record – the seven tracks heard in the movie and "I'll Cry Instead. A Hard Day's Night was filled out with four George Martin-arranged instrumentals of Beatles tunes, which were also featured in the movie.
