Luther Ingram’s Week continues with his rare debut on koko label, 2nd contribution from Groovy Emmanuel. Luther, one of the greatest talents of his generation first got his start doing rougher, more fragile soul tunes but by the time of these 70s recordings, he’d really found his voice and hit a more confident, more sensuous style that could easily go head to head with Al Green or any of his southern soul contemporaries . Now we’re going for his first ever career album, I’ve Been Here All The Time. And what a great title to begin with, eh? So true!
And here we start with two of Luther Ingram’s Koko releases we’re going to post this week. First the 1972 classic (If Loving You Is Wrong) I Don’t Want To Be Right. Luther Ingram – now there’s a classic album if there ever was one. Thanks to Groovy Emmanuel also for this fabulous post. I’d forgotten all about this gem. Kizza. In 2003, Luther Vandross released his thirteenth and final album, titled 'Dance with My Father' - from it, here is the official music video for the title track. Luther Vandross was a musical master whose style has influenced an entire generation of today's vocalists. His distinctive brand of satin smooth vocal magic moved international audiences and continues to touch people to this day. For almost 25 years, from 1981 to 2005, Luther Vandross dominated the American R&B music charts like no other artist before or since. Lyrics: Back when I was a child Before life removed all the innocence My father would lift me high And dance with my mother and me And then Spin me around 'till I fell asleep Then up the stairs he would carry me And I knew for sure I was loved If I could get another chance Another walk Another dance with him.
Album Luther Vandross. I thought sometime alone Was what we really needed You said this time would hurt more than it helps But I couldn't see that I thought it was the end Of a beautiful story And so I left the one I loved at home to be alone (alone) And I tried to find Out if this one thing is true That. I'm nothing without you I know better now And I've had a change of heart. I can't blame you if you turn away from me, like I've done you I can only prove the things I say with time Please be mine. I'd rather have bad times with (please be mine) you Than good times with someone else (I know) I'd rather be beside you in a storm (anytime) Than safe and warm by myself (so sure baby) I'd rather have hard times to gether Than to have it easy apart I'd rather have the one who holds my heart (my. heart).

I've Had) The Time Of My Life Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes 1987 The Black Eyed Peas recently used the hook of Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes' duet for their single "The Time (Dirty Bit)," but the words "I've had the time of my life" will forever be tied to the 1987 film "Dirty Dancing. We’ve got some difficult days ahead, Martin Luther King, J. told an overflowing crowd in Memphis, Tennessee, on 3 April 1968, where the city’s sanitation workers were striking. But it really doesn’t matter with me now, because I’ve been to the mountainto. ’ve seen the Promised Land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the Promised Land (King, I’ve Been, 222–223). Less than 24 hours after these prophetic words, King was assassinated by James Earl Ray.
