Dreams is a 1989 four-disc box set issued by the Allman Brothers Band. Dreams is a compilation of material taken from not only the Allman Brothers Band, but also from throughout musical careers of the Allmans and the band's other members prior to and following its formation. The set was compiled by Bill Levenson (who had put together the Eric Clapton box set Crossroads the year before) and released to coincide with the band's 1989 reformation.
Little Big is a Russian rave band founded in 2013 in St. Petersburg. The set includes Ilya Ilich Prusikin, Sergey Gokk Makarov, Sonya Tayurskaya, and Anton Boo Lissov. The first full-length album, With Russia from Love, was released on 17 March 2014. The group has released three albums and nine singles. The band made its debut on 1 April 2013, releasing their first video Every Day I'm Drinking. They made their first public appearance on 2 July 2013 at the club A2, opening for Die Antwoord.
Little Big have an album coming out later this month-their first, I believe. They have a pair of album release shows coming up in St. Petersburg and Moscow and just released a new video earlier today to promote them. It’s called With Russia From Love and it gives me oddly amorous feelings towards goats. And makes me want to dance like a Cossack on meth. Huge thanks to reader Vass for introducing us to these guys.
But on the band’s seventh album, A Head Full of Dreams, the band’s relentless campaign to raise our spirits is liable to induce altitude sickness. Of course, there’s a perfectly logical reason for the album’s oversold optimism- A Head Full of Dreams is a reactionary retort to 2014’s Ghost Stories, a low-key response to a high-profile split that literally wore its (broken) heart on its sleeve. The new album, by contrast, is Martin’s unconscious recoupling record, the sound of a freshly single man stepping out onto the dancefloor to lose his mind and find new love. A Head Full of Dreams is Coldplay’s chance to reassert the eager-to-please exuberance that Ghost Stories deliberately downplayed, and prove that Adele isn’t the only artist who can mobilize a monoculture in 2015.
The album, recorded in Malibu, LA and London, was produced by Norwegian duo Stargate together with the band’s long-time collaborator Rik Simpson. It features more guests than any previous Coldplay record, with Beyoncé, Noel Gallagher, Tove Lo and Merry Clayton among those appearing across its 11 tracks (12 if you count the buried treasure of the hidden track X Marks The Spot). The band chose not to tour Ghost Stories and headed straight back into the studio to record A Head Full Of Dreams. Revitalised, they’ve made an album that’s bursting with energy, colour and big, life-affirming moments such as the deliciously ebullient first single Adventure Of A Lifetime and the rocket-powered Hymn For The Weekend. Coldplay have never enjoyed making a record more than this one. Nor have they been happier with the results. And, this time, they plan to take it around the world.
Additionally, the album features a pair of Big Star’s bleakest songs, the devastating Holocaust in this case performed with vocals by Magazine’s Howard Devoto. The dreams that Anthony Gonzalez calls up on M83′s Saturdays Youth are those of teenage angst, carefree weekends, nostalgia, new wave and John Hughes movies. It’s essentially an album-length tribute to the elements of his youth that played a huge role in his identity as an artist, and they come through beautifully on this characteristically dense and heady work, which also features some of M83′s best pop singles.
