Singles is the original soundtrack album to the film Singles, primarily focused on the ascendant Seattle grunge scene of the early 1990s. It also features contributions from Minneapolis's Paul Westerberg (his first solo material after the breakup of The Replacements), Chicago's The Smashing Pumpkins, and past Seattle rockers Jimi Hendrix and The Lovemongers (Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart). It was released on June 30, 1992. The album has been certified two times platinum by the RIAA in the United States.

Nirvana's Nevermind had symbolically knocked Michael Jackson off the top of the album charts at the beginning of the year, and the underground buzz about Seattle bands like Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, and Pearl Jam was beginning to find its way past circles of indie aficionados and open-minded hard rock fans and into the mainstream

Singles - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. The bonus CD features previously unreleased recordings by Mudhoney, Paul Westerberg, Mike McCready and Chris Cornell in addition to rarities such as Cornell's 1992 EP 'Poncier' (debuting an early rendition of Spoonman") and tracks from the film not included on the original soundtrack album.

The album was released in 2017 for Atlantic Recording Corporation for the United States and WEA International Inc. Listen And Download below: Traclist For Various Artists – The Greatest Showman (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) Album Zip

There’s a natural grace to Cameron Crowe’s Singles. In hindsight, it’s always been a little bizarre seeing the Minneapolis crooner on a soundtrack comprised of ’90s hitmakers, but the singer-songwriter makes sense for two reasons: For starters, it’s long been argued his original outfit, The Replacements, were the true progenitors of alternative rock (Nirvana before Nirvana, essentially).

If you loved grunge, Singles is that film, that soundtrack is your soundtrack. Cameron Crowe’s story of singledom in Chicago is so intertwined with grunge that many of its key players are in the film not just as musicians but as actors. The fact that’s it's 25 years since this film was released, it is being celebrated in a new, enhanced soundtrack with a second disk of extra tracks and live versions. This includes the Poncier EP (named after Matt Dillon’s lead character from the film) by Chris Cornell. State of Love and Trust is a Pearl Jam staple that was left off their debut album and this soundtrack might have the best recorded version. Mudhoney’s Overblown is one of the greatest self aware moments of the grunge era. Soundgarden also contribute their offcut Birth Ritual which is one of Cornell’s strongest vocal performances.

Talk about Various - Singles - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

Nice repress but far away from the original vinyl's sound....
It sounds very good! But (I m not sure 100%) it sounds like been remastered or something. But i m sure 100% that this reissue does not sound like the original EU 1992 vinyl press.
Differences on sound between the original EU press & this repress??
So is this release being pushed back as of lately? When I go to order it on amazon, it says it won't be shipped till Mid June..I am guessing either Chris's death maybe postponed it or pressing issues?
My preorder arrived today, so maybe it's just out of stock while awaiting a repress.
The (hi)story of 90's rock in USA. One of the best rock compilations/soundtracks. Here are some super songs from Pearl Jam & Mother Love Bone.
As above. This CD was indeed the soundtrack of 1992 with an all-star lineup from top to bottom of the best Seattle had to offer to the Grunge Massiv. The best tune being the lesser known band Mother Love Bone's Chloe Dancer / Crown Of Thorns. Rest in Peace Andrew Wood. The Lovemonger's cover of the Zepplin tune, The Battle Of Evermore, is also a highlight.
in waiting
Released at the high point of the grunge scene, when it was still fresh and exciting, this was a who's who of the Seattle scene. All the big names - Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Mudhoney - some history in the form of Mother Love Bone (Stone and Jeff from Pearl Jam's former band), Jimi Hendrix, the former Replacements singer Paul Westerberg and the Heart off-shoot The Lovemongers. There was a slight stretch from Seattle to include the Smashing Pumpkins and a dip into the slightly less commercial side of Seattle with the Screaming Trees. As a soundtrack for one of the main Gen X slacker movies, this was THE compilation of 1992.
