Electric Warrior is the second studio album by English rock band T. Rex, their sixth if including the group's earlier incarnation as Tyrannosaurus Rex. The album marked a turning point in the band's sound, dispensing with the folk-oriented music of the group's previous albums and pioneering a flamboyant, pop-friendly take on electric rock and roll known as glam rock.
Bolan’s next album "Electric Warrior" brought a worldwide success to the band. Since then, the band's songs never left the top lines of the charts. T. Rex were so successful that Ringo Starr decided to make a documentary about the band, called "Born to Boogie. Rex's third album "The Slider" was released in July 1972. The band's most successful album in the US, The Slider was not as successful as its predecessor in the UK, where it peaked at the fourth spot. Marc Bolan used to come on stage with just his acoustic guitar, and this other guy played the bongos, and he would sort of sit cross-legged and just play. And suddenly they went electric, and it was an amazing thing, a complete revelation. The audience changed from being, you know, hippies to screaming girls. I was never completely wild about their stuff - did I listen to it outside of parties and dances?

The 'Electric Warrior Sessions' from Marc Bolan and T-Rex offers over fifty minutes of raw nuggets from the studio work that produced the glam-rocker's most heralded album. Bolan was noted for not spending much time in the studio polishing his compositions, prefering instead to seek the intensity only fresh performances can claim. Got any more laying around? Among the other covers of 'Electric Warrior' tracks are versions of the airy and beautiful 'Cosmic Dancer' and 'Life's a Gas'. Monolith' shows up twice, but both versions are weaker tracks. The song itself is a bit of a drag, and since it shows up twice it's dragging both feet ". Jeepster' gets rolling nicely, while managing to be ragged at the same moment.

The album that essentially kick-started the . glam rock craze, Electric Warrior completes T. Rex 's transformation from hippie folk-rockers into flamboyant avatars of trashy rock & roll. There are a few vestiges of those early days remaining in the acoustic-driven ballads, but Electric Warrior spends most of its time in a swinging, hip-shaking groove powered by Marc Bolan 's warm electric guitar. In fact, Bolan sounds just as obsessed with the heavens as he does with sex, whether he's singing about spiritual mysticism or begging a flying saucer to take him away. It's all done with the same theatrical flair, but Tony Visconti 's spacious, echoing production makes it surprisingly convincing.
Bolan’s appearance on the BBC's music show Top of the Pops in March 1971, wearing glitter and satins, is often cited as the beginning of the glam rock movement. Music critic Ken Barnes called Bolan "the man who started it all". Marc Bolan, the pixie prince of glam rock, remains a huge influence in music and fashion
