A Certain Ratio (abbreviated as ACR) are an English post-punk band formed in 1977 in Flixton, Greater Manchester by Peter Terrell (guitar, electronics) and Simon Topping (vocals, trumpet), with additional members Jez Kerr (bass, vocals), Martin Moscrop (trumpet, guitar), Donald Johnson (drums), and Martha Tilson (vocals) joining soon after.

After dropping the quasi-debut album The Graveyard And The Ballroom on cassette in 1980, ACR’s delivered their first vinyl long player the following year in the form of To Eac. ecorded in New Jersey and produced by Factory mainstay Martin Hannett, the LP swaggers along the precipice of post punk and odd funk to the syncopated hats and flying triplets of Donald Johnson’s faultless drumming.
