Tales From The Acoustic Planet is an album by American banjoist Béla Fleck. This is also his first solo album since 1988's Places. All tracks written by Béla Fleck except where noted.
Fleck is joined by his jazz friends (Chick Corea and Branford Marsalis) as well as his progressive bluegrass pals (Sam Bush, Tony Rice, and Jerry Douglas), plus members of his usual backing band, the Flecktones (Victor Wooten and Future Man). The resulting performances should pique the interest of curious listeners across any number of genres.
Béla Fleck, the banjo-wizard leader of the fringe-jazz quartet the Flecktones, returns to ted concerns with this 18-song outing, a complement to 1988's Drive and a more-traditional follow-up to 1995's fusion-leaning Tales from the Acoustic Planet .
