The Northern Irish singer Van Morrison has released 40 studio albums, 6 live albums, 6 compilation albums, 4 video albums, and 71 singles. Morrison made his first recording playing saxophone on "Boozoo Hully Gully" with the International Monarchs in 1962. His first recording session as lead singer/songwriter with Them was produced by Dick Rowe at Decca's studio. Don't Start Crying Now" was the first single released and the garage rock classic, "Gloria" was also recorded at this session.

The 1972 Parrot Records album, Them Featuring Van Morrison, is a two-LP compilation containing 20 tracks. The first ten, on Sides One and Two, are culled from the 12-track Parrot Them Again LP; the last ten, on Sides Three and Four, are culled from the 12-track Parrot Them album. Presumably, both of those albums were out-of-print by 1972, and at the same time, Van Morrison had become a solo star, thus making this repackaging economical. Among the 20 tracks are Them's three .

Ironically, when the single 'Richard Cory' flopped in 1966, Van was the first to claim that his (ignored) choice for the single had been.
