Produced by James Blake. And I want you to know I took it with me That when things are thrown away like they are daily Time passes and the constants stay. So if that is how it is I don’t wanna be a star But a stone on the shore A lone doorframe in a wall When everything’s overgrown But what she really really wanted was my rights and my wrongs And I wouldn’t understand but I would try playing along.

James Blake Litherland (born 26 September 1988) is an English singer, songwriter, t and record producer from London. He first received recognition for a series of 2010 EPs including CMYK and Klavierwerke, and he released his self-titled debut album in 2011 to critical praise. His second album Overgrown was released in 2013 and awarded the Mercury Prize. He released his third album The Colour in Anything in 2016. His fourth album Assume Form was released in 2019.

James Blake's follow-up to his breakthrough self-titled album incorporates more gospel and R&B elements and a wider variety of textures. He successfully splits the difference between the sultry bedroom vibes of R&B’s resurgent Quiet Storm moment and the more mundane life of a British bedroom artist. Blake’s real argument for the continued relevance of his dewy, electronic gospel-folk comes via his second LP, Overgrown. Whether they’re meant as representations of conflicted emotions or simply designed to get crowds moving, the codas to Digital Lion and Voyeur are as bass-first and funky as anything Blake’s done to date.

James Blake's second studio album, Overgrown, is a hypnotizing foray from an artist whose influences have grown from the subtle, futuristic textures of his eponymous 2011 debut to embrace everything from gospel choirs to post-dubstep. On Overgrown, Blake further expands his omnivorous influences and yields eclectic results-from a hip-hop track featuring RZA ("Take a Fall for Me") to a piano ballad that foregoes synths and electronics entirely ("Dlm").

With his 2011 debut full-length, d R&B producer James Blake delivered on the promise of his earlier singles while at the same time overhauling his sound, moving away somewhat from the sample-heavy dubstep of those tracks to a sparser atmosphere. The album focused more on Blake's equally haunted piano and vocal lines, submerged elements of implied rhythms, dubstep's subsonic bass resonance, and ghostly samples to create a picture of restraint and contained emotional upheaval. The album felt not so much like the calm before the storm, but like silently watching.

Overgrown is the second studio album by English electronic musician James Blake. It was released on 5 April 2013 by Blake's ATLAS Records, along with A&M Records and Polydor Records. The album features guest appearances from noted electronic music producer Brian Eno and Wu-Tang Clan member RZA. Overgrown debuted at number eight on the UK Albums Chart and at number one of the US Dance/Electronic chart, becoming Blake's highest-charting album to date. It was supported by lead single "Retrograde"

Talk about James Blake - Overgrown

My copy came without lithography, neither signed or numbered. I'm assuming this record has been repressed several times by now since winning the Mercury Prize... Sound quality wise it's very good.

Comes With Original Lithography, Numbered and Hand Signed

Great buy. Overall great value for the album, has a massive yet very clear sound without the ring of digitalSide A B C are ++++ and very consistent both in terms of music and sound quality, side D is slightly different and perhaps not as "easy" to access, but yet more intriguing. if I have a minor comment perhaps the sound could have been even better with a 45rpm pressing (?). Overall excellent release.

I own the American version of this on REPUBLIC and there is a slight problem with high distorted sibilance when he's singing, especially singing loudly or in a high register. Does anyone who owns the ATLAS (UK) version of this LP notice a similar problem? I'd look into getting this version, but not if it has the same issue. Please comment if you can!

Hi Espidojo. I own the UK (European) edition and the vocals sound fine, no sibilance or issue on transients. I recommend that edition highly (see my comment).
