Lullabies to Paralyze is the fourth studio album by American rock band Queens of the Stone Age, released on March 21, 2005. The album debuted at on the Billboard 200, and sold 97,000 copies in America during its first week of release, eventually topping over 342,000 copies as of March, 2007 according to Nielsen Soundscan. The album has been certified gold in the UK, where it has sold over 100,000 units.

Featuring a brand new lineup, QOTSA’s Lullabies to Paralyze takes on a darker sound, living up to its eery title.

Throughout their history, from Kyuss through Queens of the Stone Age's 2002 breakthrough Songs for the Deaf, Homme and Oliveri have been in bands whose lineups were as steady as quicksand; their projects were designed to have a revolving lineup of musicians, so they can withstand the departure of key musicians, even one as seemingly integral to the grand scheme as Oliveri. While Lullabies is hardly a concept album, its songs play off each other as if it were a song cycle, progressing from the somber Mark Lanegan-sung opening salvo of "This Lullaby" and steadily growing spookier with each track, culminating in the scary centerpiece "Someone's in the Wolf. The key to QOTSA's darkness is that it's delivered seductively - this isn't an exercise in shallow nihilism, there's pleasure in succumbing to its eerie, sexy fantasies - and that seductiveness is all musical.

Lullabies To Paralyze" isn't quite a 3 but nowhere near a 4. I'd prefer to think of this album as a . 5 with certain songs of 5 Star quality but overall, a hit or miss release. In the grand scheme of things, this is an average release by a superb band. Please don't kid yourself into thinking this album is anywhere near as good as the self-titled or "Songs For The Deaf". If you like this album, great. Believe me, I really wanted to love this album, despite my initial apprehension with the absence of Nick Olivieri.

Lullabies to Paralyze was released in March 2005, and this is the fourth album from the band, which is less heavy than the band’s others albums, but still with a lot of ambition. It is a further move away from traditional Hard Rock and towards Punk. Some of the songs, actually, can be compared to U2 and early Black Sabbath. Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters, Nirvana), the drummer on the last album, is no longer a part of the band.
