How can you claim a loss of innocence by joining a military that you volunteered for? But I think the real end of the innocence was the loss of faith in the government when we found out that LBJ lied about the Gulf of Tonkin incident to get us into the war and that Congress was doing all it could to prevent the war from coming to a successful conclusion.
