Floor is a band with a patterned history behind it. It formed back in 1992 from Miami, Florida, and planned to release material for two full-lengths entitled Dove and Saturnine, but the group split up in 1996, and the two albums would come over a decade later into the picture. They then reformed in 1997, but only rehearsed and recorded very occasionally until in 2002, their first self-titled full-length was finally released. Afterwards, however, the band broke up again a couple years later. Oblation" is a great album that spans towards a sleuth of different genres while remaining consistent and true to its bizarre identity.

Oblation is the third studio album by Florida sludge metal, doom-pop band Floor released on April 25, 2014 on the Season of Mist label. The first original material since their previous Self-Titled album 12 years before, Oblation followed the bands reunion in 2013 after disbanding in 2003. Some critics noted similarities between the album and songs recorded by guitarist Steve Brooks' other band Torche.

The Florida underdogs' sludge metal has never sounded so refined. Aside from the somewhat misleading album art, Oblation’s only downfall is that it’s a tad too long, suffering from a couple filler instrumentals ( The Key, The Quill ) and the occasional mid-tempo rut ( Find Away ). But the record flows nicely and rewards uninterrupted listening. Floor’s triumphant sludge metal has never sounded so refined. Essential Tracks: Rocinate, Sign of Aeth.
