Although it was successful, she has kept a low musical profile in the last few years. It contains 4 remixed tracks, fully remastered songs and 2 brand new recordings. In 2017, Black released a remastered version of her 1987 album, "By The Time It Gets Dark", to celebrate its 30th anniversary. The remastered album contains fully remixed and digitally remastered versions of the album's tracks, a brand new song recorded especially for the re-issue called "Wounded Heart" and a rare b-side called "Copper Kettle". Later in the year, Black released a brand new compilation album called "Mary Black Sings Jimmy MacCarthy" containing 6 previously recorded songs, 4 new tracks and one live duet with MacCarthy

In many ways, Michael Martin Murphey has the career that Michael Nesmith of the Monkees - with whom Murphey performed early in both of their careers - might have had if he had never been picked for the NBC series. For a time he was known as the Cosmic Cowboy after one of his early songs. Murphey moved to Liberty Records in the early '80s and later jumped to Warner Bros. where his interest in cowboy and Native American subjects led to the foundation of the Warner Western imprint, a subsidiary label devoted to cowboy music and poetry. This group recorded one self-titled album for the Colgems label - not coincidentally, the label for which the Monkees, of whom Nesmith was a member, recorded - and got a moderate hit out of the single "I Feel Good (I Feel Bad).
