The Wannadies is an album by Swedish band The Wannadies. It was released in 1997 as their first album for the US market, seven years after their debut in Sweden. It is based on the band's fourth album Bagsy Me, also released in 1997.

Redirected from The Wannadies (album)). The Wannadies is the début album by the Swedish alternative rock band The Wannadies. It was released in 1990 and reached number twenty-six on the Swedish Albums Chart. The Wannadies includes the singles "My Home Town", "Heaven" and a new recording of the lead song from their début release Smile EP; "The Beast Cures the Lover".

The Wannadies played their first concert, a festival in support of the Nicaraguan Sandinistas, in October 1988 and only weeks later entered local studio KN to record the three tracks that would become their debut release-the Smile EP. Smile was released in February 1989 and managed to pick up several 'single of the week' accolades from national newspapers as well as airplay on indie radio shows such as 'Bommen' despite little or no marketing  . A revised version of the album (with two more singles from Be a Girl replacing two album tracks) was later released in America under the title The Wannadies. The next few years were a turbulent time for the group.

The nearly nine-minute closer, "That's All," is the most hypnotic tune which can be found on the album. All over it's another great Wannadies album. The package includes a 4-page booklet with pictures and lyrics.

The Wannadies were an alternative rock band formed in 1988 in Skellefteå, Sweden. The bands initial line-up featured Pär Wiksten (vocals, guitars), Christina Bergmark (keyboards, vocals), Stefan Schönfeldt (guitars) and his younger brother Frederick Schönfeldt (bass) with Gunnar Karlsson (drums) and Björn Malmquist (violin). Karlsson was later replaced by Erik Dahlgren. Early influences included Australian band The Go-Betweens as well as The Sisters Of Mercy.
