Celebrated English psychedelic rockers Pink Fairies are to have their first three albums reissued as a box set. Pink Fairies featured former Pretty Things/Tomorrow drummer Twink, and in early incarnations Deviants singer Mick Farren, as well as future early Motorhead guitarist Larry Wallis. The band occasionally play live today with varied line-ups. The Polydor Years collates the band's first three albums, 1971's Never Never Land, 1972's What A Bunch Of Sweeties and 1973's Kings Of Oblivion  .

Polydor Records commissioned the group to record a single, "The Snake", "Do It", and were happy enough with the results to offer the group an album contract. The debut album Never Never Land was released in 1971. It featured live favourites "Uncle Harry's Last Freakout" and "Do It" but curiously omitted "The Snake". In 2014 the Pink Fairies reformed with a line-up of Russell Hunter, Duncan Sanderson, Andy Colquhoun, Jaki Windmill and second drummer George Butler. Initially announcing two dates - The Robin 2 in Bilston on 15 May and 100 Club in London on 17 May - more dates were later added. A new album called 'Naked Radio' was released after a Pledgemusic campaign ending on 12 February 2017.

The best-loved of the original Pink Fairies' three Polydor albums is also, contrarily, the lesser of them all. Recorded in 1972 at a time when the band's own reputation as hippie hell-raisers was already being eclipsed by the soaring Hawkwind, What a Bunch of Sweeties found the band realigning themselves with the twisted Americana rock sensibilities of the latter-day MC5, high on noise but, sadly, low on the blistering commitment that was the hallmark of their debut.
