Cajun Songs from Louisiana. Although characteristic of the state of Louisiana, Cajun music has its roots in the French-speaking Acadian population of Canada. The lives of those French colonists were wracked by political discord, war, and for some families, deportation; after the Seven Years' War (1756–63) many sought refuge in Louisiana. On this recording, humorous ballads and lively reels, bolstered by accordion, fiddle, and guitar accompaniment, belie the harsh experiences of the Acadians. Album producer Lucie de Vienne describes how the superimposed elementary rhythms.

Louisiana Cajun French Music from the Southwest Prairies, V. 2. "Please retry". MP3 Music, January 1, 1976. This album came out on vinyl in 1976. It is the second of two albums recorded by Ralph Rinzler between 1964-1967 in response to the success of Cajun bands performing at the Newport Festival beginning in 1964. Rinzler knew something was going on down in southwest Louisiana and he wanted to capture it for the Smithsonian.
