+, According to Toivo Tulev, the title was borrowed from the closing lines of an English translation of a poem by Persian poet Mevlana Jalaluddin al-Rumi (1207–1273). In this composition a measured gradual movement, characteristic of western liturgical music, commingles with oriental tone-colours and disjointed modernistic melodies. Tulev studied with Eino Tamberg at the Tallinn Conservatory. He then spent time as a pupil of Sandström and attended a course on electro-acoustic music at Köln. All the while the piece is 'lifted' by long-held quiet violin notes played by the small ensemble. The occasional shards of oriental gesture in the first three pieces become more assertive in Isopo (Italian - a tender plant of graceful appearance and pleasurable fragrance).

Estonian, born in 1958, Tulev studied composition with Anti Marguste, Eino Tamberg, Sven-David Sandstrom and at the studio of electroacoustic music in the Musikhochschule, Cologne. He has also been a student of Gregorian chant and, in the 1980s, was a singer in the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir.

Be lost in the Call, commissioned by the Berlin MaerzMusik Festival, premiered at the Chamber Hall of the Berlin Philharmonic, March 2003. Swing low, premiered in Tallinn at the international contemporary music festival NYYD 2003, was also performed at the Warsaw Autumn Festival 2004. Tulevs short ballet Cruz, inspired by poetry of Spanish mystical philosopher John of the Cross, was staged at the Estonian National Opera in 2002.
