Blues for Allah is the eighth studio album by the Grateful Dead. It was recorded February 27 – May 7, 1975, and released September 1, 1975. It was the band's third album on their own Grateful Dead Records label and their third studio album in a row. Though it has not received RIAA certification as of 2019, Blues for Allah was the group's highest-charting album until 1987's In the Dark, reaching No. 12 during a thirteen-week stay on the Billboard Album Chart.
The Grateful Dead went into a state of latent activity in the fall of 1974 that lasted until the spring of the following year when the band reconvened at guitarist/vocalist Bob Weir's Ace Studios to record Blues for Allah. The disc was likewise the third to be issued on their own Grateful Dead Records label. When the LP hit shelves in September of 1975, the Dead were still not back on the road - although they had played a few gigs throughout San Francisco.

Blues for Allah was the final studio album on the Grateful Dead's original independent label. Grateful Dead Records' distribution partner United Artists Records had greater involvement in the rights and publication for this album than previously (. releasing the album in foreign markets on the UAR label). This was an attempt to combat counterfeiting and because UAR was helping fund the completion of the Grateful Dead Movie in return for further distribution rights and the completion of a soundtrack album.
The Music Never Stopped Another highlight! This Bob Weir and John Barlow song combines a great amount of Funk and mystique. Blues for Allah This conclusion is surely the oddest on the album. And most Middle Eastern influenced. The opening section is quite creepy. There is a good amount of percussion, and the lyrics are sang in a Gregorian chant fashion. The melodies are very odd. A few minutes later, the tune adds in the rest of the instruments. The playing is also very erie.
Lyrics to "Blues For Allah" song by Grateful Dead: Arabian wind, The needle's eye is thin, The ships of state sail on mirage, And drown in sand, Out i. .It will not grow a thing; Taste eternity the swords sing: Blues of Allah In 'sh'Allah. The thousand stories have come round to one again, Arabian night, Our Gods pursue their fight, What fatal flowers of darkness bloom from seeds of light
Blues For Allah: Sand Castles & Glass Camels/Unusual Occurrences In The Desert. 8. Groove (Instrumental Studio Outtake). 9. Right after achieving their finest achievement with the highly praised album From The Mars Hotel in 1974, The Grateful Dead would take their creative improvisational step even further a year later when they released this excellent first rate masterwork that again proved that The Dead could still showcase creative ideas for there wall of sound
Blues for Allah is the eighth studio album by the Grateful Dead.
Blues for Allah Lyrics. Arabian wind The needle's eye is thin The Ships of State sail on mirage And drown in sand Out in No-man's Land Where Allah does command. What good is spilling Blood? It will not Grow a thing. Taste eternity The swords sings Blues for Allah. The 1975 album’s title track occupied most of the second side of Blues for Allah and is among the Dead’s more remarkable compositions. Far from three-chord rock, Blues for Allah is not in a given key or time signature. Hunter’s lyrics are majestic, representing a cultural transfer that is respectful, non-exploitative, and apt. Blues for Allah also features some remarkable sound sculpting, including the chirping of crickets and Garcia’s voice, highly manipulated through a voltage controlled amplifier

Album · 1975 · 7 Songs. The mid-'70s were a time of great creativity for the members of The Grateful Dead, both within the group and on solo ventures. They enjoyed a brief hiatus from the road as they assembled this fine album, which also benefitted from the return of second drummer Mickey Hart and his exotic rhythms and techniques. The break from touring meant the players were hungry to get their kicks playing together once again.
