Yeah, this one's for the mama that I never knew (Never knew) I took acid just to burn all of my memories of you I guess now I really wanna know the truth How'd you leave your only child at nine for another dude? Took that pain and punched my father in the stomach 'til he bled Hit the store and stole . 0 and took that shit to the head All the years that you ignore me left me sleepless in the bed I hope daddy got some kids 'cause your only son is dead My revenge, got it in the end (In the end). If I die before I wake, smoke me out of Heaven's gate Bring me back to life on Sunday, pour me up the Devil's drink Wake up, go to work on Monday, grind it out for seven straight You showed me that just because we're blood don't mean that we relate.

The God Machine was an alternative rock band, active in the first half of the 1990s. Its members were all from San Diego, California, United States, but they all lived and performed mainly in the United Kingdom and across Europe. The band consisted of three members, Robin Proper-Sheppard (guitar/vocals), Jimmy Fernandez (bass) and Ronald Austin (drums), and they first performed officially under the name The God Machine in 1991.

By the time the album was done, in October 1999, it had become an unintentional memorial for everything Smashing Pumpkins had been and, simultaneously, an exemplar of where alternative rock was at the time. The sound of Machina/The Machines of God, which turns 16 on Feb. 29 (or 4 years old if you're strict about leap days), was, of course, a reaction to the sound of Adore, the band's 1998 foray into electronic conceptualism. Machina was marketed as a return to form, but that's not quite right.
