Her debut album, "Open Heart Job," is due out in April. There’s an undeniable visual quality to White Prism’s sound. The project features cool, breathy vocals that float above a bed of icy, angular synths and syncopated beats, simultaneously harkening back to ’80s dance pop and conjuring something strangely futuristic. After taking a job as a backup singer for the Cranberries, Cranitch began working as a fashion stylist - including assisting the frequent Times Styles contributor Susan Joy - which eventually led Cranitch to what would become White Prism. I wrote the first two songs for this project after looking at a Comme Des Garçons runway show, she recalls. There were all these superstructured pieces - it was almost alien-looking.
