In Winter is the seventh studio album by British singer-songwriter Katie Melua. It was released through BMG Rights Management on 14 October 2016. For this record, Melua went back to her native Georgia to record an album with the Gori Women's Choir, a native Georgian all-woman singing troupe. She teamed up with co-producer Adam 'Cecil' Bartlett, and travelled to the town of Gori, where they set up a recording studio in the local community arts centre

A gorgeously rendered holiday-themed effort, In Winter finds singer/songwriter Katie Melua backed by the 25-member Gori Women's Choir. The album is Melua's seventh studio production and first since parting ways with longtime collaborator Mike Batt. Recorded in her native country of Georgia (Melua left with her parents at age nine), In Winter is a lushly produced, thoughtfully conceived album featuring arrangements by esteemed choral composer Bob Chilcott. In Winter is the result of Katie Melua’s desire to make a seasonal album that wasn’t stuffed full of hoary old chestnut carols and childrens’ singalongs – a more mature Christmas album, cocoa-warm and comforting. She’s joined by the Gori Womens’ Choir, gently lowing behind her on a quietly pristine version of Joni Mitchell’s River, and more harmoniously fulsome on the Ukrainian carol The Little Swallow, the Eastern European root of Carol Of The Bells.
