Replicas is the second and final studio album by English new wave band Tubeway Army, released in April 1979 by Beggars Banquet Records. It followed their self-titled debut from the previous year. After this, Tubeway Army frontman Gary Numan would continue to release records under his own name, though the musicians in Tubeway Army would continue to work with him for some time

Tubeway Army is the debut album by Tubeway Army, released in 1978. When reissued in mid-1979, following the success of the follow-up Replicas (1979), the more commonly known cover art featuring a stylised portrait of Gary Numan was introduced. This release made No. 14 in the UK album charts.

The classic self-titled debut by Gary Numan's Tubeway Army was finally reissued by Beggars Banquet, who have done a masterful job remastering the tracks and adding a live set from 1978 as a bonus. In the past, many have felt that Numan's debut disc didn't measure up to his later triumphs (1979's Replicas, 1980's Telekon, et., but listening to it today, you discover that it's the most underrated of all his early albums.

Oddly, the first two Tubeway Army singles noted above do not appear on this album at all. So, if early fans didn’t pick up the 7" records, they would be forced to wait until the 1984 release of The Plan to get those older recordings. The original blue album cover was later replaced with the iconic ink tracing of Numan’s face from the Bombers single slip cover. The songs for Tubeway Army were intended to be punk. You can still hear those simple roots within this album
