Brendan Benson is a Michigan-born songwriter who resides on the rock end of the power pop scale. He debuted in 1996 with One Mississippi at the age of 25. Jason Falkner of Jellyfish and The Grays co-wrote and produced the first version of the record which was rejected by the label so Brendan went back into the studio with Ethan Johns. The album received critical acclaim and is often cited by musicians as an influence. One Mississippi was later reissued digitally and included six original four-track demos.

The 7″ will feature a new song called Strike Out recorded by a roster of Third Man artists under the name the Brushoffs, who the Detroit Metro Times note includes Brendan Benson, Ben Blackwell, Dominic Davis, and Olivia Jean. On the B-side is an interview that White conducted with two-time World Series Champion Kirk Gibson. The 7″ is set to feature the Detroit Tigers’ colours, blue and orange.
