The Hebden Bridge Tapes. In Dec 2014 Peter Hook & The Light performed six albums in their entirety over three nights, at the legendary Trades Club in Hebden Bridge, Yorkshire. Unknown Pleasures, Closer – 8th December Movement, Power, Corruption & Lies – 9th December Low Life, Brotherhood – 10th December

Atmosphere and Colony are two other standouts, with vocal duties performed by (ex-Happy Mondays vocalist) Rowetta. The Closer set feels more raucous, with Hook offering playful banter with his hometown audience and featuring a harrowing performance of Dead Souls and a euphoric take on Ceremony.

To celebrate Record Store Day in April, Peter Hook & the Light released four new live recordings on vinyl, each devoted to a specific album (and whenever possible, its associated singles and B-sides). There’s an unusually nervy edge to Closer Live Tour 2011, which commemorates the band’s first performance of Closer, in front of the home crowd at Manchester’s the Factory. From the opening power-chug of Incubation through the classic Love Will Tear Us Apart, the Light demonstrates an astounding, free-wheeling punk ferocity.

Hook - who already has booked shows in Europe and South America playing the two albums with his band The Light - will perform Closer at two concerts in Los Angeles, plus dates in San Francisco, Boston and Chicago. Interspersed with those shows will be performances of Unknown Pleasures in Denver, Toronto and Montreal (see dates below). The bassist debuted his performance of Unknown Pleasures in Manchester last year on the 30th anniversary of Joy Division singer Ian Curtis’suicide, and chose the same date last month to premiere his full-album cover of Closer. EUROPE July 15: Gru Village, Turin, Italy July 24: Shadow Play Festival, Kortrijk, Belgium Aug.
