Live in California 74 is a live DVD of the first California Jam concert performance from Deep Purple released in 2005. It was recorded and aired live by ABC-TV on 6 April 1974 at the Ontario Speedway near Los Angeles, California. This concert was one of the first ever music concerts issued on videotape and laser disc in 1981 under the title California Jam in Japan and the UK.

Deep Purple were the biggest selling album act in America when they embarked on a 28 date tour promoting their new album "Burn". The undoubted climax of this tour was headlining the California Jam Festival at Ontario Speedway in California, in front of 200,000 people. Their explosive set is presented here on DVD for the first time. The set list includes tracks from "Burn", as well as classics like "Space Truckin'" and "Smoke On The Water".

Staged at the vast Ontario Speedway, the California Jam was the brainchild of the ABC television network, whose weekly In Concert broadcast was already one of the most highly regarded rock programs in American TV history
