Made in Japan is a double live album by English rock band Deep Purple, recorded during their first tour of Japan in August 1972. It was originally released in December 1972, with a US release in April 1973, and became a commercial and critical success.

Deep Purple Machine Head was the first album I ever owned, and their music sounds as beautiful to my ears now as it did then over 40 years ago. Enjoy! . I am somewhat disappointed that the HD downloads were not included as stated on the boxed set cover but such is life. the book this box set contains is beautiful. also there is a dvd here with decent footage of purple on tour in japan in 1972, the footage is of so so quality though and not very long. 2 people found this helpful.

Recorded over three nights in August 1972, Deep Purple's Made in Japan was the record that brought the band to headliner status in the . and elsewhere, and it remains a landmark in the history of heavy metal music. Since reorganizing with singer Ian Gillan and bassist Roger Glover in 1969, Deep Purple had recorded three important albums - Deep Purple in Rock, Fireball, and Machine Head - and used the material to build a fierce live show.
