The title track on Ben Folds' 2015 collaboration album with yMusic, So There. The song seems to be about reminiscing on a relationship from years before that seems to have ended fairly bitterly. So There" Track Info. Written By Ben Folds. Release Date June 15, 2015. Interpolated By. So There (Instrumental) by Ben Folds (Ft. yMusic).

In the wake of Ben Folds Five's dissolution in 2000, Ben Folds embarked on an assortment of new projects: He's released solo albums and composed for film and TV; he's collaborated with Nick Hornby and William Shatner; he's even served as a judge on TV's The Sing Off, which led to an a cappella record. Perhaps it's fitting that Folds' new album, So There, opens with a song called "Capable Of Anything. A reflection on admitting faults and weaknesses, it flips the expression's uplifting message on its head, arguing that being capable of anything implies that we can always give in to the darkness that sits idle inside us.

Ben Folds featuring yMusic. The album is terrific; just what I expect from Ben Folds. I saw one of his d performances, and this album certainly lives up to that show. The pressing is good and the packing is excellent. Sleeves are good quality and the included extras are very welcome.

Ben Folds is not known for staying in one place, musically. While the bulk of his work comprises piano-based punk rock for wussies as he described it in the early days of Ben Folds Five, he has also given us experimental projects like the electronic and esoteric Fear of Pop: Volume 1, or the 2009 album of a capella versions of his songs, or the collaboration with author Nick Hornby, Lonely Avenue. When he reunited with Ben Folds Five for 2012’s nostalgic The Sound of the Life of the Mind, it appeared as though he was returning home for good

He embraces strings and chamber music yet still maintains a passion for his love of pop. So There consists of eight chamber pop songs with the very talented yMusic Ensemble and a 21 minute piano concerto performed with the Nashville Symphony. Ben Folds meeting and recording with yMusic became the bridge between the classically themed concerto and the contemporary chamber rock songs that live in harmony on So There. The combination is an inspired body of work on both small and grand scales.

Ben Folds is no stranger to collaboration. So There finds the musician partnering with the experimental Brooklyn chamber ensemble yMusic on eight new tunes referred to as "8 chamber rock songs" on the record's packaging. It also includes a studio recording of his aforementioned three-movement "Concerto for Piano & Orchestra" with the Nashville Symphony.

Ben Folds Five is the self-titled debut studio album by American alternative rock band Ben Folds Five, released in 1995. A non-traditional rock album, it featured an innovative indie-pop sound, and excluded lead guitars completely. The album was released on the small independent label Passenger Records, owned by Caroline Records, a subsidiary of Virgin/EMI.

The album is terrific; just what I expect from Ben Folds. I saw one of his orchestra-accompanied performances, and this album certainly lives up to that show. The pressing is good and the packing is excellent. Sleeves are good quality and the included extras are very welcome.

My enclosed B&W photos are of the audience at Bonaroo 2008 from the stage, and a self portrait in a mirror using a Rolei at Heiny Hall 2014. The photos are lovely. And, yes there is a lyrics sheet enclosed. There is also a download card enclosed.I was never much of a fan of the Ben Folds Five, but his solo stuff is astonishing.
generation of new
Admittedly, I discovered Ben Folds through a show called You're The Worst. He made a guest appearance and I wondered what he sounded like. Well, he's incredibly talented, that's for sure. The sheer variety on this album makes it worthwhile in its own right. I can't get enough of his instrumentals! Definitely recommend this one.
