Groove Armada have touted Soundboy Rock as their best album, and they're probably right, because they've excised the smarmy or irritating elements of their earlier work.

Groove Armada's fifth studio album Soundboy Rock is an unpredictable mix of breakbeats, trip hop and electro-driven songs. The diversity and continuity of their previous work Lovebox is combined with some exciting heaviness. 180 gram audiophile vinyl. Containing the hit singles "Get Down", "Song 4 Mutya" & "Love Sweet Sound". guest appearances by Angie Stone, Candi Staton, Mutya Buena, Alan Donohoe .

Groove Armada survived longer than most in the downbeat scene because they were able to move beyond the usual sample-plus-beats formula that so quickly lost its currency by the end of the '90s. Andy Cato and Tom Findlay could create tracks with or without samples, and their production skills put them in close company with the best in the business (Air, DJ Shadow).

Black Light is the sixth studio album by the London electronic duo Groove Armada.

Soundboy Rock' is the hotly anticipated new album from Groove Armada, one of the most consistently successful dance acts of recent years. In their ten year career so far the band have sold over 2 million albums worldwide but are also internationally acclaimed DJs (they have a regular residency at Space in Ibiza) and increasingly well known through their hugely successful Lovebox Weekender Festival (40k tickets sold last year) which they founded and curate.

Talk about Groove Armada - Soundboy Rock

Purebinder
Really attractive package....bought this album on CD the week it first came out and never really took to it, as it was quite a change in direction compared to GA's previous albums....as I own all other GA albums on vinyl, couldn't resist buying the two-colour vinyl. It's a really nicely packaged set....good quality,bold/bright glossy cover, poster, insert, both disks in black, poly-lined sleeves....one pink disc, one yellow disk....both very slightly translucent (I can see the writing on my slipmat underneath through the disk)....powerful, loud, deep sound (very slightly compressed IMHO, but I'm no expert)....only let down is that both discs have black smudges in the vinyl....but I can live with that. Mine has a VERY faint click in 'Lightsonic', but had the previous reviewer not mentioned it, I wouldn't have noticed it. Enjoying finally getting into this album (after having owned it for 11 years!!)....hard to believe I took such a dislike to it when it first came out. My fave GA album is still 'Goodbye Country, Hello Nightclub', followed by 'Lovebox'....but listening to 'Soundboy Rock', I can see how GA's sound transitioned from the 'Vertigo' etc era to 'Black Light' and 'Little Black Book' (wish they'd press that whole album on vinyl!!)

Soundboy Rock is a sneaky classic by GA, so happy to see it pressed for the first time. I love the packaging and liner notes, however both the pink and yellow records seem to have some black smudging in the color. Also, my pressing has some clicks during the beginning of Lightsonic, which is a shame really as its during a quiet part of the track.
