Forshaw provides all of the biographical basics regarding Larsson's life and his career and examines the current turmoil that exists regarding his late estate. There are some great pictures included as well that put faces to the names in the headlines. The best part of the book is when Foreshaw writes about the books themselves  . I would say that "The Man Who Left Us Too Soon" is a perfect 'after dinner mint' or even 'dessert' for anyone who is a fan of the Millennium triology! It is both a quick and highly enjoyable read.

Karl Stig-Erland "Stieg" Larsson (/stiːɡ ˈlɑːrsən/; Swedish pronunciation: ; 15 August 1954 – 9 November 2004) was a Swedish journalist and writer. He is best known for writing the Millennium trilogy of crime novels, which were published posthumously, starting in 2005, after the author died suddenly of a heart attack. The trilogy was adapted as four motion pictures in Sweden and the . for the first book only)

The story of Stieg Larsson and his Millennium Trilogy would be a tough sell as fiction: even with the facts clearly documented it staggers the imagination. A journalist and political activist who was the recipient of many death threats for his work exposing racism and far-right extremism in Swedish society, Larsson died in 2004 (at age 50) of natural causes. First off the mark is The Man Who Left Too Soon: The Biography of Stieg Larsson by British critic and author Barry Forshaw (his books include The Rough Guide to Crime Fiction and British Crime Writing: An Encyclopedia). The biographical section of The Man Who Left Too Soon occupies about 60 pages which is about a fifth of the total book.

The n life story of the author of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo His three novels are violent, terrifying, brilliantly written, and have sold. The author of the incredibly successful 'Millennium' trilogy, Stieg Larsson died before any of his novels became bestsellers in many countries. In this biography Barry Forshaw lifts the lid on a brilliant and multifacted man.

This was obviously produced at the gallop shortly after Stieg Larsson's early and unexpected death. It has all the hallmarks of a scissors and paste job. Pages 1 to 62 cover the life of this troubled man and is the most interesting part of the book by far. As for the rest, the longest section (pages 63 to 214) which is headlined 'The Books',takes us through the three volumes in abridged form. Now if you have read the books already (and I presume you have) this is of little or no use to you as it is quite simply a rehash.

It is also worth mentioning that Barry Forshaw is the writer of other relevant to this subject books such as ''The Man Who Left Too Soon'' (a biography of the late Stieg Larsson) and ''Nordic Noir: The Pocket Essential Guide to Scandinavian Crime Fiction, Film TV'' which are both great reference books for everyone who has a special interest on the genre.

The life of Stieg Larsson, bestselling Swedish author of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and its sequels, was as strange as his crime fiction. Larsson was a lifelong Left-winger and leading authority on the Swedish neo-Nazi Right, as well as an obsessive science-fiction devotee and workaholic, chain-smoking investigative journalist. This adds little to our knowledge, although admittedly if you read them at the breakneck pace I did you may have forgotten a few minor plotlines. Indeed, the book doesn't follow a conventional biographic structure at all, starting off with a chapter on Larsson and his investigative journalism before sections on his relatives' dispute, publishers, and the reactions of other crime writers to his work.
