Other (In label Disc 1 Side A): MR 148-1. Johnny Thunders And The Heartbreakers. Vive La Revolution !! ‎ (CD, Album).

This album drives that object lesson home once more, being culled from the Heartbreakers' 1977 tour promoting their ill-fated . album, which saw powerhouse drummer Jerry Nolan quit over its mixing. The set list is the same that'll appear on future live releases, but the performance is vicious enough to overlook such considerations.

But Vive la Revolution! is definitely one of the better live Thunders sets out there, as it catches the Heartbreakers early on (in Paris on December 8, 1977), when they were still a hungry band and playing like it mattered. A pretty consistent set, included are such early Heartbreakers highlights as "Can't Keep My Eyes On You," "Too Much Junkie Business," "One Track Mind," and, of course, the Dee Dee Ramone-penned anthem "Chinese Rocks.

One year earlier, the Heartbreakers arrived in London to join the Sex Pistols on the ‘Anarchy’ tour. They spent most of 1977 there, recording ‘. and cementing their status as elder statesmen of the punk movement. This last date of their European tour was to be their very last as a band – until the reunions of course. Drummer Jerry Nolan had already jumped ship; his substitute is The Clash’s Terry Chimes. The gig was filmed for a movie that was never to be – this is the soundtrack recording. Find A Participating Store.
