The Rolling Stones' US Tour 1978 was a concert tour of the United States that took place during June and July 1978, immediately following the release of the group's 1978 album Some Girls. Like the 1972 and 1975 . tours, Bill Graham was the tour promoter. One opening act was Peter Tosh, who was sometimes joined by Mick Jagger for their duet "Don't Look Back".

Some Girls is the 14th British and 16th American studio album by the Rolling Stones, released in 1978 on Rolling Stones Records. It was the first album to feature guitarist Ronnie Wood as a full-time member; joining founder members Mick Jagger (vocals), Keith Richards (guitar), Bill Wyman (bass) and Charlie Watts (drums). Wood had contributed to some tracks on the Rolling Stones prior two albums, 1974's It's Only Rock 'n Roll and 1976's Black and Blue, and joined the band full time in 1976

The Rolling Stones were losing their edge. Some Girls, released in June 1978, heralded the Stones’ brazen return to form and, moreover, to artistic relevance. Simmering with loose groove and swagger, the album seethed with all the spunk and splendor of New York’s urban jungle. By the time the Stones rolled into the Lone Star State the following month on a tour stop in Fort Worth, Some Girls was the number one album in America. Brown Sugar 17. The Rolling Stones 1978 tour of the USA in support of that year's Some Girls; album is considered by fans to be one of their very best. The tour followed immediately on the release of the Some Girls album and by the time the band arrived in Texas in mid-July the album had hit the N. spot on the US charts. The tour took a back to basics approach, with the band and their music very much at the forefront and little or no elaborate staging.

The Rolling Stones were taking off again in 1978. After the somewhat dissapointing Black And Blue, the Stones released Some Girls, their comeback album in which they explored the (by then) current state of popular music, with the d hit singles "Respectable", "Miss You" and "Beast Of Burden". With multiple hit singles scored and the reaching of Some Girls to N°1 in the US, the Stones were brought back to full form, and were more than ready to hit the roads again on their first american tour in three years. A cover of Chuck Berry's "Let It Rock" opens the night. Fusing deliberatly exhausted and hurried vocals and speedy, heavy guitar riffs, the Stones implicitly tell us this show will be different from any other.
